COLOMBIAN AND BRITISH, VERY DIFERENT

Colombian and British people are very different in certain aspects and subjects. For example, in relation with manners, dress and speech, Colombian lose for a huge difference. British people are well known for their politeness, self-discipline and for their sense of humour.

The whole cultural aspect between both countries helps to determinate people’s features. In Britain, the politeness is learned since childhood.
For example, it is important to say “please and thank you”. When people meet each other, the common greeting is giving a handshake and kisses are left only for close friends.

In Colombia happens all the opposite, people don’t say please and thank you very often and the general greeting are kisses and maybe hugs too. In Britain, if somebody says “How do you do?” the answer is the same sentence “How do you do?” but in Colombia, you can be sure that people will response the answer by saying “Fine, thanks”.

When there is a special event, for example a concert, a dinner or a reunion, British people are very punctual, they arrive on time. Also, they avoid talking loudly in public and they respect the order, you will never find a disordered queue anywhere in England.

If there is a dinner, you should response the invitation, especially if it says RSVP.

Again, Colombian people do the completely opposite. People arrive late for the appointments, talk as loud as they can and you will find a huge disorder on queues. As a tip, in Britain people drive on the left hand side of the road, but they do it in order too, Colombian do this on the right side of the road but in a disordered way…

In general, manners are very important in Britain, even between family and close friends. Colombian people don’t have these attentions and for this reason, there are features that stereotype a nation, although, we have to recognize that Colombian people are the kindest and happiest in the entire world!!!

WE INVITE YOU TO REVISE THE DIFFERENTS TOPICS!!!!!!!

Are there many vegetarians in the U.K?

The vegetarian society says that there are about 3 million vegetarians in the UK- 5% of the adult population. In the last 10 years, the number of vegetarians in the UK has practically doubled.

Historically, British cuisine means "unfussy dishes made with quality local ingredients, matched with simple sauces to accentuate flavour, rather than disguise it." However, British cuisine has absorbed the cultural influence of those that settled in Britain, producing hybrid dishes, such as the Anglo-Indian Chicken tikka masala, hailed as "Britain's true national dish”.

Colombian cuisine has several local and regional varieties, including Atlántico, Pacífico, Andina, Orinoquía, and Amazonia. Each one has developed their own dishes. For example, “la bandeja paisa”, “tamal tolimense”, “el asado huilense”, etc. Meals in Colombia mainly consist of food that has many calories and few vegetables. We believe that there are not many vegetarians in our population.
